I hear the sound of abundance of RAIN...1 Kings 18:41

SOWING AND REAPING

A NO-NONSENSE APPROACH

6 Let him who is taught the word share in all good things with him who teaches. 7 Do not be deceived, God is not mocked; for whatever a man sows, that he will also reap. 8 For he who sows to his flesh will of the flesh reap corruption, but he who sows to the Spirit will of the Spirit reap everlasting life. 9 And let us not grow weary while doing good, for in due season we shall reap if we do not lose heart. 10 Therefore, as we have opportunity, let us do good to all, especially to those who are of the household of faith. Gal 6:6-10

I write this at the request of many of our pastors who are struggling in different parts of the world financially. The amount of finances one might need is a “relevant term” according to the economy of that nation. Nevertheless, as “sons of God” we have access to all we need directly from our Heavenly Father. It is His good pleasure to give you the Kingdom, as well as, the desires of our heart. That is, when our desires line up with His desires. (Luke 12:32 – Psalms 37:4)

It is equally unfortunate that many so-called Christian ministries have set a standard for the rest of the world to follow by using different worldly marketing methods to scam the body of Christ. The methods range from “any donation and we will send you …the prize of the month club” – to merchandising the Anointing for a fee. That is what I call the “Balaam method”; for a specific donation – we will send you a personal word from the Lord. HOGWASH!

Just as Balaam was judged for the selling of his gift, so will all who seek to PROFIT from a PROPHET. When God brings Divine relationships into your life there will indeed be a “price to pay”, however, it will come in the form of persecution, fasting, prayer, and denying oneself of the pleasures of life to pursue holiness with God.

I recently heard a comment regarding a young 30-something year old pastor in Indonesia. He is an apostle over a church of 30,000 members, where 90% of the leadership is under 30 years old. The man commenting on this young man of God made this statement:

“He is obsessed with holiness. He wants to be on a first Name basis with the HOLY Spirit.”

Wow! What a compliment! Oh that God would raise an entire generation of those in the pursuit of holiness!

What Moves God?

Brother Kenneth Hagin once said, “God isn’t moved by our needs, He’s moved by our faith.”

It takes FAITH to please God! Faith to believe God for finances. While oftentimes God uses man to supply the finances, we need to learn to let God be the One who tells the “man” to supply a need and not man telling man.

While others may have the “freedom” to ask for donations, I do not. Jesus told me in 1995 if I wanted to be in full time ministry, that I was to look to Him alone as my Source, and He would meet all my needs. As long as I was living in obedience to His will, (Key statement) He met my need. Only when I was living disobediently did I fail to have my needs met. However, I will point out, the failure was always on my end and not His.

When a financial, or, other need arises that is beyond our normal capacity to handle, we look to “sow a significant seed” for a significant harvest. The heart must be totally pure in this. There can be no corrupt motive involved, and that is where many Christians fall. Hearing of some great opportunity to have their “debts cancelled supernaturally” they will give to an impure altar from an impure heart. The motive is no longer to advance the Kingdom and draw closer to Jesus, it then becomes a “spiritual lottery game” to see if my numbers win tonight. (We are speaking metaphorically of course.)

Regardless of how ministers (especially TV ministers, thank God all are not like this) may abuse true and genuine biblical principles, such as “sowing and reaping”, the Word of God is still true. You will produce a harvest of the seed you’ve sown. As well as, whether or not it is a corruptible harvest, or an incorruptible harvest. That is where the motive of the heart comes in.

Jesus watched those who gave into the treasury of the temple. Of all that gave, He commented on one lady, who in terms of amount in the natural, gave the least of all. But in terms of the Eternal, she gave more than everyone else. You can rest assured; Heaven took care of this woman. (Mark 12:41-44)

How To Sow -

We, personally speaking, never make pleas for money. We never make promises we cannot fulfill. We never say what God isn’t saying regarding finances.

Do we ever need finances? Of course we do! Then, what do we do?

We ask Jesus where to sow our seed and how much, and then we ask for the harvest we are seeking. We do all of this in the secret place of prayer where no one but God alone is listening. (Matthew 6:6) If you do these things and you are still not getting your needs met, then you need to run through a quick checklist.

· Is there any sin in my life that needs to be dealt with?
· Do I have any unforgiveness in my life towards anyone?
· Are my motives and heart pure?
· Have I obeyed all Jesus has asked of me?
· Am I in the right place and the right calling?
· Have I made Jesus my Source?
· Am I tithing upward? (To a greater source than ourselves)

While there may be many other things to list, and these being only an example, the truth is: if you will ask the Holy Spirit what the problem is, He WILL tell you.

The bottom line is still found in Matthew chapter six:

For your heavenly Father knows that you need all these things. 33 But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you. Matthew 6:32-33

“Seek FIRST the Kingdom Of God – THEN – all of these things will be added unto you.”

ALL of these things! What things? The things you need! When will these things come?

When we put the Kingdom of God FIRST, and seek HIM ABOVE the things we need.

Someone must take the initiative and speak out against manipulating finances from the methods of the world, and speak into the methods of the WORD!

It starts with a seed. What do you have in your house that is a seed to sow? (2 Kings 4:2) That’s where you begin, not on harvesting where you’ve never planted.

Give! Don’t Beg -

Kingdom people don’t beg. They already have access to all they will ever need. Access has been granted because the King Himself shed His blood so we would no longer be sinners and beggars, but children of the Kingdom.

32 He who did not spare His own Son, but delivered Him up for us all, how shall He not with Him also freely give us all things? Romans 8:32

Determine to make Jesus your Source, and seek Him first in everything! It really is that simple.
This kind of sowing stands above my regular tithe. If you’re not tithing upward you must start there. Abraham gave a tenth of the spoils to Melchezidek a priest of the most High God. He gave to someone greater than himself. A true tithe of a man of God must go somewhere beyond his own personal ministry or church. Why? Because you cannot “tithe” to yourself. (Genesis 14:18-20)

Examine these three things in your giving:

· Why am I giving?
· What am I giving?
· To whom am I giving?

This should answer the purity of motive in all we do for the Kingdom of God. Finally, remember this:

What God does TO YOU – He equally wants to do THROUGH YOU!

This isn’t an all-inclusive lesson, however, it is a place for some to begin and others to examine for themselves.

KEY PEOPLE WHO UNLOCK YOUR DESTINY!

Now the Lord had told Samuel in his ear the day before Saul came, saying, "Tomorrow about this time I will send you a man from the land of Benjamin, and you shall anoint him commander over My people Israel, that he may save My people from the hand of the Philistines; for I have looked upon My people, because their cry has come to me." And when Samuel saw Saul, the Lord said to him, "There he is, the man of whom I spoke to you. This one shall reign over My people." 1 Samuel 9:15-17

The Lord will orchestrate events, times, seasons, and people to bring you into your destiny; IF you are at the right place at the right time. Obedience is more than crucial, it is paramount! If you are willing and obedient, you shall eat the good of the land; Isaiah 1:19

Our lives grow spiritually in levels, and we are promoted as we become spiritually mature enough to handle the next level. God will never bring you to another level that He hasn’t prepared you to walk in. Often this takes years of preparation. Moses was 40 years in the wilderness prior to his delivering the Jews from Egyptian bondage; Joseph’s years in prison before his promotion to the palace; David’s flight from Saul until his coronation as king of Israel.

Neither will the Lord lead you into a battle that He has not prepared you to win. Israel conquered Canaan only after the first generation of negative minded people had died off. Gideon’s troops were a paltry 300 in comparison to the 10,000 he started with. Nevertheless, victory is never in numbers, it’s in the Hand of God. And that is dependent upon our hearts being in His Hands!

As revivalist hungry for the move of God we must be willing to go wherever, and do whatever it takes to be at the right place at the right time. One word from Heaven can launch you to the next level. One impartation from hands that are soaked with the anointing of God can propel you to greater heights in God. One “soaking” in the River of God can marinate you with the Presence of Heaven for the rest of your life.

Is it hunger? Yes, but it is more than that. It is the desperation of the mindset: The cost is irrelevant; the price is immaterial; the “goal” is everything.

Right now God is aligning you with “key people”. People who have the keys to unlock the door to your promotion to the next level of anointing. The next level of healing. The next level of miracles. The next level of visitations. The next level with Jesus. Are you ready? And, are you willing to seek God with fasting and prayer to find God’s man or women with the key to your currently closed door?

This has happened in my life again and again over the course of the last 25 years. In March of this year while preparing to leave Nairobi, Kenya, I met with a mighty prophet of God who looked at me upon our meeting and said, “The Lord showed me YOU, in a dream 2 nights ago. He told me what to prophesy over your life. And once the ‘terrible tongue of the Lord’ has spoken it. It will come to pass. However, if you’re disobedient there will be consequences to pay.”

The Lord hasn’t changed. Just as He told Samuel in advance regarding Saul’s destiny, so he told this man of God regarding mine…before we ever met.

We don’t have it all, men and women of God. We need each other. God uses us to help one another. Every joint supplies. (Eph 4:16)

There is a move of God going on, and I am in it! What about you? It is the right time. Are you in the right place?

Performance or Presence?

I am deeply troubled by much of what I hear and see on the airwaves regarding ministry these days. Most, if not all, of the relationships I have, including the RAIN network came about because we were all seeking the supernatural of God. So, for the next few sessions that I have opportunity to write we are going back and rehearsing our roots.

The Holy Spirit recently asked me a question that I knew He already knew the answer to. So, what was His purpose in asking? God asks questions not to find answers, rather to reveal to us what He already knows. The questions cause us to look inward and search our hearts. Here is the question:

Do you want a performance ministry or a presence ministry?

I ask each of you the same question. What DO YOU WANT?

Performance ministry is what is popular. Performance ministry has learned how to move the emotions of the hearers. Often, thinking the emotions is the anointing, when in fact; the anointing of God is nowhere to be found. Where there is no anointing we must substitute something emotional to take its place.

Most congregations do not know the difference. Most ministers don’t know the difference either. Many do but prefer to do what is popular rather than submit to the Holy Spirits agenda.

Preachers have exercised their natural talents and gifting to the point that with the mere movement of their hand, stance, and charge they can get a reaction from the pews. These “pulpiteers” have learned how to manipulate the hearers with the rise and fall of their voices making valid points without the aid of the Spirit of God.

Churches have learned how to submit to the program and follow the ways of Hollywood and Wall Street to pack the crowds in. They have learned how to make people feel comfortable with their sins rather than confronting the sins. As long as the pews are full and the finances are good church rocks along as normal. Don’t anyone dare rock the boat preaching righteousness, holiness, and separation from the world.

Pastors have a beer with their congregants to show how “cool” you can be and still be a Christian. Joining them at R rated movies laughing at the same crude jokes and watching the same sexual immoralities as those on their way to hell do. How can you tell a Spirit filled man of God from a banker, a lawyer, or a doctor? That doesn’t mean a banker, lawyer or doctor can’t be Spirit filled as well; the point is where is the separation unto God?

Ministers perform and entertain to keep the crowds coming back for more. Coming back with the same sins, the same addictions, and the same habits with no hope of conviction to bring change. You’re okay, I’m okay – Jesus loves us just the way we are.

But, He doesn’t love the sin, control, excuses, and the manipulation of the congregant’s emotions thinking if they are standing on their feet while you parade across the room like a man in a one-act play, they have been in Gods Presence.

This isn’t a personal tirade against preaching that moves emotions. Emotions are a part of us. Emotions will be moved when God shows up. The point is when Gods people think they have been in His Presence only when their emotions have been stirred.

When God comes in – change comes with Him!

He changes our lives forever. He brings us from darkness into Light, and from the entertainment industry of preaching to the presence ministry of preaching.

We must praise Him until the spirit of worship comes. We must worship Him until the Spirit of Glory comes. Then stand in His Glory.

I heard my dear friend, the late Ruth Ward Heflin, say this over and over and over again. She knew the presence of God and this was her formula for bringing the Glory into the house!

Stand in the Glory. When the manifest Presence of His Glory comes you won’t need to preach! You won’t need to pray for the sick, and the demon possessed. When God’s Glory cloud comes into the meeting lives will be changed in His Presence. No one dare attempt to “perform” when the Kings’ Presence is in the room!

When you have a Presence ministry God alone gets the Glory. People will leave talking about Him not about the sermon, or the special entertainment cloaked in “gospel music”.

When the Presence of God is released the atmosphere is filled with the fragrance of another world. The immediate environment of His World has now invaded ours. His Kingdom come, His will be done on earth as it is in Heaven.

Presence ministry is costly. As a matter of fact, it will cost you everything you have. Including your reputation, ministry and life. Presence ministry is His ministry in you for His Glory. You must become dead to the accolades of men and seek His Face alone. However, it is Presence ministry that Jesus is looking to release. Are you willing to be a candidate? Will you volunteer for this elite group of Special Forces?

Come men of God. Come back to His Presence. Come back to the womb from which you were launched. Come back to the supernatural. Come back to the Glory of God.

~

Praise Him until the Spirit of Worship comes. Worship Him until the Glory comes. Then stand in the Glory.

Overcoming Temptations - A "Guideline" For Men of God - Introduction

By Eddie T. Rogers

Going Higher? Or, Going Nowhere?

Who may ascend into the hill of the Lord? Or who may stand in His holy place? He who has clean hands and a pure heart, Who has not lifted up his soul to an idol, Nor sworn deceitfully. Ps 24:3-4

Men of God, and men of RAIN, I address you that way because first and foremost you are men of God. Though you may have to answer to people, or boards, or denominations, you first have to answer to God in everything. It is imperative that we walk humbly before our King, and righteously even as He is righteous. There isn’t any room for compromise.

As men of RAIN, we want to be men of integrity, and we must guard ourselves from the schemes of the enemy. Jesus told Peter that satan wanted to “sift him like wheat”, and he did. Even being warned ahead of time he slipped into temporary failure. However, Jesus didn’t end his statement there. “And when you have returned to Me, strengthen your brothers.” (Luke 22:31-32)

The problem isn’t with failing, or compromising, the problem is remaining that way. Around the world men of God have failed, and have become outcast from the Church. That isn’t God’s plan for them. His plan is always restoration. Frequently it is those within the Church that keeps restoration from taking place.

Yet, there is another area we must touch on this day. It is those who have compromised their walk with God, and do nothing about it. They remain content to stay in situations that cause harm and grief to the Kingdom of God. Often they have done it so long they think God doesn’t see, or, God doesn’t care. I must warn you gentlemen to guard your hearts.

Satan will tempt you in 3 areas.
1. He will tempt you to take the Glory for what God alone deserves. That my friend is pride.
2. He will tempt you to take advantage of financial gain or rewards. With impure motives seek the Gold, rather than the Kingdom. That is the lust of the flesh.
3. He will tempt you to be unfaithful to your wife. That is the lust of the eyes, and knows, it will bring you down. It isn’t a matter of “if”; it is a matter of “when.”

It is NOT a sin to be tempted. It is when we yield to that temptation the fruit of sin is born.

Remember Who called you. Remember why He called you. The King of Glory has honored you to be in His Presence, and to be His representative here on this earth. He has called you to bear fruit, and lots of it! (John 15) If we do not deal with our sins and live holy, just as He is holy, we will be removed and another take our place. (Psalm 109:8)

This isn’t so much a rebuke, as it is a warning. Guard your hearts, men of God. Guard your hearts, men of RAIN.

Overcoming Temptations Part 2 - The Gold

By Eddie T Rogers

A couple of weeks back in our teaching series we brought you three areas the enemy will use to test and tempt the man of God. To review these areas let’s just put it in this context:

· The Gold.
· The Gals.
· The Glory.

There isn’t any specific order here, nor, will the enemy necessarily use all three. The Bible tell us in Ephesians 6:11 –

Put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil.

The word “wiles” literally means the schemes of satan. He is always scheming against us. However, when he finds something that works, he sticks with it. He doesn’t change tactics. If one particular tactic is working it would be foolish to change it.

This week we will take “the Gold” and deal with it. Why is this so important? Because the man of God is suppose to be filled with Light, and integrity. The motive of our heart is equally as important as the actions we do. Doing the right thing motivated by the wrong reason is a sin.

Philippians 2:3 - “Let nothing be done through selfish ambitions or conceit…”

The Gold obviously represents finances or money. Money isn’t a sin. Having money isn’t a sin. What Paul told Timothy was:

“For the love of money is a root of all kinds of evil, for which some have strayed from the faith in their greediness, and pierced themselves through with many sorrows.”

Many spiritual leaders have fallen because of the “love of money”. Jesus said in Luke 16:14, the Pharisees, were lovers of money, and it was impossible for them to serve both God and money. (Luke 16:10-13)

A religious spirit will take a “good thing” and manipulate it out of greed. I heard of a major ministry that sent out “crisis” letters every few months to generate more income for the ministry. A “crisis” isn’t a problem, if it’s for real. Nevertheless, manipulating a crisis to the point of seeking, and greedily expecting to benefit from it is wrong.

Balaam, for a fee, was paid to curse God’s people. Numbers 22-24, it ended up costing him his life. Judas sold Jesus for 30 pieces of silver. Not everything is so blatant and bad. The “hook” or, the scheme of satan comes in when it looks good on the outside; that is to everyone else. Yet, the heart of man will often seek to do “good deeds” of ministry, while the true interior motive is greed.

Men of God, is the Lord’s arm to short to save? If He has called us to minister, then He is fully capable to sustain our every need. The Lord doesn’t put us in a position less He has first fully equipped us for what lies ahead. If we are being overwhelmed and stressed, perhaps we need to check our motives, and check our calling.

Finally my brothers, we all need finances to do what God has uniquely called each of us to do. To feed the hungry, clothe the poor, or preach the gospel, it all cost something. Remember, Jesus said, He is fully aware of all these things we need, but our priority must be and remain on Him. Seek first the Kingdom of God…then all these “things” will be added to you. (Matthew 6:25-33 & Luke 12:22-32)

We must learn to seek the Kingdom first. We must learn to trust Jesus alone. God uses man to help meet our needs, but we must never attempt to move man in the place of God to get our needs met.

You have all heard it said if a man is hungry you could give him fish to eat. And, he will come back to you day after day for a fish. However, if you teach him to fish, he then will feed others and teach them to fish.

It’s time to learn to fish.

Don’t let the Gold steal your heart from following the Master. He will make you fishers of men.

Overcoming Temptations Part 3 - The Gals

By Eddie T. Rogers

We’ve been looking at three classic area’s the enemy will attack the man of God. While there may be other things that tempt him these all have scriptural examples to back them up. In part one we shared about financial temptations, or the Gold. In this weeks article we will briefly cover avoiding sexual sins, or, as in our outline form: “The Gals.”

"I made a covenant with my eyes not to look with lust upon a young woman.”
Job 31:1 NLT

How much heartache, pain, and suffering could be avoided if we established our own covenant as did Job. David’s affair with Bathsheba, and the ensuing judgment upon David and his household, would never have taken place. (2 Kings 11)

Why is this particular sin more damaging than the others?

1. It always affects more than one person.
2. It usually affects more than one family.
3. Its effects often spill over into the church.
4. It is the one sin that affects a person’s physical body, as well as, their soul.

Paul labors in 1 Corinthians 5 explaining to the Corinthians they must judge such a one in their midst. Even going so far as to say if there isn’t any repentance that person should be excommunicated from the fellowship.

God will judge those on the outside; but as the Scriptures say, "You must remove the evil person from among you." 1 Corinthians 5:13

Paul says sexual immorality isn’t to be tolerated within the church. Of all the reasons given, by far the most important is found in 1 Corinthians 6:19-20 – “Or do you not know that your body is the temple of the Holy Spirit who is in you, whom you have from God, and you are not your own? For you were bought at a price; therefore glorify God in your body and in your spirit, which are God’s”

Satan knows of all the sins he can tempt you with this one will have the most far reaching damage than any other. He can destroy lives, homes, families, and churches with this one act.

Knowing these things ahead of time we can prepare ourselves to avoid temptations. Nevertheless, it isn’t the temptation itself that is the sin; it is when the temptation has been carried out from the thought life into the act of sin. Our thought life is the breeding ground for actions both good and evil.

Paul later tells the Corinthians regarding this warfare in thought:
For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal but mighty in God for pulling down strongholds, casting down arguments and every high thing that exalts itself against the knowledge of God, bringing every thought into captivity to the obedience of Christ. 2 Corinthians 10:4-5

We are responsible for our thoughts and our actions. The Spirit realm is ready to help us from either side we are leaning toward! If for good, the host of Heaven is ready to assist us. If for evil, Satan’s minions are equally prepared to help out.

If you know there is an area in your life that is conducive toward sin, then you must take the necessary precautions to avoid it. Joseph remained faithful to God even when Potiphar’s wife was attempting to seduce him while her husband was away. How did he react? HE RAN! If you have to run, then my brother’s run fast!

We do not condone, overlook, vindicate, nor rationalize sin among the brethren. Nevertheless, God heart is always looking to redeem those where true repentance has been produced. Notice, I said, “True repentance,” NOT, “I’m sorry I got caught!”

Samson’s story is all too familiar with us all. His destiny as a true deliverer and mighty man of God was cut short because of sexual sins. Initially it looked like he was getting away with it, but isn’t that exactly the devil’s lie? Finally it caught up with him and he became the slave instead of the master.

“Jesus answered them, Most assuredly I tell you, whoever commits sin is a slave of sin.” John 8:34

In his end, even though he didn’t fulfill his ultimate destiny as a judge over Israel, his repentant heart brought him again the grace of God upon his life. In one final act he was restored and brought honor to his calling.

However, for the man who overcomes temptation there will be a special reward.

“Blessed is the man who endures temptation; for when he has been approved, he will receive the crown of life which the Lord has promised to those who love Him.” James 1:12

Let us strive to be overcomers and to love the Lord with all our hearts!

Overcoming Temptations Part 4 - The Glory

By Eddie T. Rogers

that no flesh should glory in His presence.”
1 Cor. 1:29

This will conclude our series on specific temptations that come to the men of God. It isn’t intended to be all-inclusive, rather general enough to send warning signals ahead of time into any situation.

We are a generation of Super-Stars. The world looks up to them. Pays them homage. Even huge segments of news networks devote their entire programs to the Super-Stars when one passes. There are channels that are completely devoted to Hollywood style entertainment.

Somehow, this worldly attitude has been compromised by the church, and those who are intended to be the “servant of all”, have themselves become the idols of worship. If not worship, at least they are put on a pedestal out of reach, and out of touch with the common man.

Paul found himself dealing with this in his day. (1 Corinthians chapter 1) He wrote that some were saying they were of Paul, others of Appollos, still others of Peter. We have become a generation of devotee’s to men, denominations, associations, and the like. People are more concerned with where they sit in a meeting, rather than “sitting in Heavenly places.” (Ephesians 2:4-6)

Pride has usurped authority over humility and serving others. Pride has no place in the man of God. Pride will not stand in the Presence of God. The word says of Lucifer “Your heart was lifted up” (Ezekiel 28:17) and immediately he was discharged from his duties and excommunicated from his position of Heavens’ worship leader. Proverbs 16:18 – Pride goes before destruction, and a haughty spirit before a fall.”

Apostles, prophets, evangelist, pastors, and teachers, are indeed ministers to the body of Christ for the purpose of building them up until they all reach full spiritual maturity. However, we are NOT superstars! We are NOT the elite of the body of Christ. We are NOT to be placed on a pedestal. ONLY CHRIST JESUS HOLDS THAT POSITION OF HONOR.

Young men today are seeking how to become known, how to get preaching appointments, how to be with the “who’s who”, rather than seeking first the King and His Kingdom. As men of God, our ministry to others in public is only as good as our ministry to Him in private.

Flashy suits, expensive ties, gold watches, and big cars do not make a man of God. God is looking on the heart. If the heart is humble before Him, what he is wearing, and driving is irrelevant. We must become good stewards of all that God has blessed us with. We are caretakers, not owners.

My brothers, God is near to those who are humble in spirit. It means we exalt others above ourselves. It means we take the “low road” when it comes to serving others, and we take the “high road” when it comes to integrity. I cannot stress that enough.

Be of the same mind toward one another. Do not set your mind on high things, but associate with the humble. Do not be wise in your own opinion. Romans 12:16

But He gives more grace. Therefore He says: "God resists the proud, but gives grace to the humble." James 4:6

Humble yourselves in the sight of the Lord, and He will lift you up. James 4:10

Likewise you younger people, submit yourselves to your elders. Yes, all of you be submissive to one another, and be clothed with humility, for "God resists the proud, but gives grace to the humble." Therefore humble yourselves under the mighty hand of God, that He may exalt you in due time, 1 Peter 5:5-6

Avoid the temptation of pride by staying humble, staying on your knees, and praying in the Spirit. How low can you go?

My love and embrace,
Eddie

The Priest Shall Carry The Ark

By Dan Duke

“…None ought to carry the Ark of God but the Levites (priests) only, for God has chosen them to carry the Ark of God and minister to Him forever…” I Chronicles 15:2

It seems that man is always trying to either help God if not improve His system. New carts and ministry boards abound. Programs and popular new strategies abound. The latest craze invades the ranks of legitimately hungry seekers of God. It seems they try everything, except God’s thing.

Nothing can replace or take the place of good old gospel preaching! People may be temporarily amused, satisfied, pacified, and mesmerized by the latest fad. But at the end of the day they are left empty, frustrated, and disillusioned by church programs that lack the power of God to change lives.

The reason is simple. The oxen are stumbling. Leaders everywhere are falling if not quitting out of frustration. Oxen are a type of the gospel worker and they were never intended to pull a cart of man-made religion. They will stumble every time. The Ark of God can only be carried on the broad shoulders of men of God who have separated themselves to that noble task.

It’s true today, as it was in the testimony of David, that some progress can be made hitching the cart to a team of oxen but eventually they will reach the threshing floor. It’s there the progress stops and proceeds no further. The threshing floor is the place where God confronts the divine order of things, or as it was in David’s situation, the lack thereof.

David’s problem was that the only way he had ever seen the Ark move was on a man-made cart. It may have been a beautiful and popular card but it was not God’s order. David made the common error of imitating the way he had seen it done before. That’s what many “leaders” are doing today and it’s a big mistake! David’s failure, however, did provoke him to ask one of the Bible’s most important questions, “How can I bring the Ark of God home to me?”That’s a question we should all be asking.

While inquiring of God and searching the Scripture David came to understand that the Ark (Presence) of God will never move very far on man-made traditions or good programs. God needs a shoulder! David came to himself and set out to find some Levites worthy of the task. He challenged the priests to sanctify themselves and bring up the Ark of the God of Israel. And they did so!

The same scenario exists today and, unfortunately, the same results are achieved, Uzza (meaning “strength”) dies along the way. People, especially preachers, are dying today as they try to steady the Ark and keep things moving through their human strength and good intensions! Good intentions no matter how honorable will never satisfy divine order.

The only way the Ark is going to come home to our cities is to be carried on the shoulders of a sanctified priesthood. God is calling a new generation of gospel preachers and preparing them in the fireto carry HIM to the cities and villages of our world. It will never happen any other way!

The preparation process is underway. My advice is to stay in the fire of His presence and to make your shoulders available to Him. It’s neither an easy path nor a quick one. However, it’s God’s way, the only way.

Making God Your Source.

By Eddie T Rogers

"Give us this day our daily bread."

Over 20 years ago the Lord taught me to make Him my Source, and as long as I followed faithfully in obedience to His will, He has always met every need. I remember a story the late Kenneth E. Hagin told about how some people think the Bible says, "Faith without hints is dead." It seemed whenever this particular man had a need he would go to the altar and pray as loud as he could. Loud enough for even those on the back rows to hear. Whatever he needed he made plain in his prayer, even down to the shoe size he wore. Inevitably someone would have pity on him and go buy him the shoes.

Jesus said in Matthew 6:6 - "But when you pray, go into your room, and when you have shut your door, pray to your Father who is in the secret place; and your Father who sees in secret will reward you openly." This is where all prayer should begin in earnest. In the secret place where you meet with God one on one. Every man and woman of God must have a place where no one can disturb them. A place where God alone sees and hears their cries. This doesn't mean you cannot share your deepest request with a trusted friend, or spouse. The prayer of agreement is indeed powerful, but know those to whom you share your heart. Men of God need men of God, as iron sharpens iron. Know their heart (spirit) before you share yours.

I realize many of you may be in situations beyond anything I've faced, and you may say, "Brother Eddie, you don't realize our political and economic situations here. You live in America where everything is great." It may be true I don't know your personal situation, and at the same time, you don't know mine. What I do know, and that we can agree on, is God is always faithful in every situation.

The key isn't found in America, Asia, or Africa. The key is found in the Kingdom of God. Regardless of where we live and what color our skin is, if we have made Jesus Christ Lord of our lives we then are citizens of another country. "Now, therefore, you are no longer strangers and foreigners, but fellow citizens  with the saints and members of the household of God." Ephesians 2:19

As citizens of Heaven, Heaven then becomes our Source of all our needs. We have submitted to a Higher Authority than the goverments of this earth. We are surrendered to the King of all Kings, and the Lord of all Lords. My life is no longer my own, as I now belong and submit to Him, I now am His responsibilty to care for.

My friends I am not over looking the deep needs of ministry, outreach, and desire to  make an impact in your region, territory, or nation. I too, desire to do the same. Still, there is need at home just like you for food, to shelter, to clothing. What I am telling you is make God your only Source, then let Him speak to others to help you meet  your needs.

The Lord called me into ministry in 1984, then for 12 years I worked a full time job and preached just like many of you. In 1995 the Lord spoke to me and said, "If you will make Me your Source, as long as you obey Me, I will meet your every need." Key word I want you to note: "Obey". (Isaiah 1:19) From 1996 until 2001 I became a full time minister pastoring a church we had founded in 1994. We left the pastorate for the desert. David called his desert "the cave of Adullam" 1 Samuel 22:1. It was there the Lord prepared him for his future "ministry."

We lived in our "cave" from 2001 until 2006 as God prepared our hearts for the ministry we are in now. We are not supported by a church, an orginazation, or a denomination. We have none but God. We ask Him in the secret place for "grace for everything we face." When in financial need we ask the Lord to move the hearts of those to give into this ministry. We make a way for contributions to be made, but we never solicit, plead, or beg. It's not the Kingdom way.

In closing I could tell you story after story of each and every month that goes by how God supernaturally meets our need. Sometimes my friend right down to the last minute, but never late. When you are feeling discouraged take a short trip down Matthew 6:25-33. It ends like this:

"But seek first the Kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you."

My Love and Embrace,

Eddie
